Design – Photography

General
Photography offers students skills that are valuable both during and beyond their time at school. Our world now is dynamic, targeted, and relies on quality graphics and images to stand out in a crowd.

The Design – Photography course is well placed to:

  • Give students a deeper understanding of how design works through targeted photographs and visual media,
  • and how ideas, beliefs, attitudes are communicated to audiences with specific intentions.
  • Give students an understanding of how design influences both recreational interests and professional industries.

Students learn how to:

  • Unlock the full potential of the features of the camera on their mobile phone
  • Explore how digital SLR cameras work, and how to manipulate settings to achieve a particular outcome
  • Use applications such as Photoshop to enhance and modify graphics and images
  • Use current technologies to showcase their images through various framing techniques
  • Explore their own beliefs, attitudes through a project communicating something of themselves

This course is very practical, and students develop an impressive portfolio of work that can form part of a job application or entry to TAFE or further study. It’s fun and engaging, while cementing skills that can be used for life.
