Engineering Pathways

Certificate II
Certificate II in Engineering Pathways is designed for students interested in engineering or related working environments. The skills and concepts embedded within this qualification teach students the base knowledge needed to gain an apprenticeship in mechanical, industrial and production engineering environments, as well as providing insight into the varied engineering fields. 

Engineering Pathways suits: 

Anyone wanting to gain employment or apprenticeship/further training in the Metals & Engineering field such as:

  • Welder / Boilermakers 
  • Sheetmetal workers 
  • Electrical/Electricians 
  • Mechanics 
  • Mechanical fitters etc. 

Students cover a range of skills including: 

  • Occupational Health & Safety in a workplace environment 
  • Material types & selection 
  • Hand and power tool use 
  • Manual Metal arc welding 
  • Gas metal arc welding 
  • Oxy acetylene welding, brazing and soldering 
  • Sheetmetal fabrication 

Students are required to successfully complete all aspects of the 12 competencies over a 2 year period, which is a mix of both practical and theory tasks. Engineering Pathways is designed to create a love of working with metals, the skills learnt however apply across any workshop environment.
