Certificate II

Dance study within VET Training Certificate II level (training.gov.au), gives upper secondary education students an opportunity to achieve nationally recognized training from within the course work for the Creative Arts Industry.  Study evolves through 10 Units of Competency, that are taught in the classroom, across the school teaching and learning program.  Each unit of work has both practical and written components and can be achieved with support from dance training taken beyond the school program. 

The Certificate II in Dance is available to all students that have an interest in developing skills and techniques, of movement, performance opportunities, fitness and work-related employability skills. This training package will attract a minimal administration fee of approximately $380 per student.  This fee is for the government registration body (AIET Registered Training Organization. If students are considering this course after Year 12 as a private student, it would cost them in the range of $3000-$5000 through private training businesses.   

The Certificate II in Dance program is highly sort after for further education purposes, with recognition of learning that has taken place during secondary schooling.Further education can be supported in the progression to Diploma level of Fitness and Training and Events Management, or University Entrance at Bachelor level for Dance, Musical Theater, Sound and Lighting Design.   

Program Employability Skills: 

  • Occupational Health & Safety, including Senior First Aid.  
  • Collaboration and Teams building within Creative Performance projects. 
  • Coaching and Mentoring strategies. 
  • Developing leadership roles within project development.  
  • Understanding relational problem-solving skills in collaboration with others. 

Dance physical training is built on

  • Understanding the physiology of the body, injury prevention, dietary requirements, optimum health and wellbeing,  
  • Building of Dance Technique to a profession level.  

Knowledge is gleaned on legal policies within business operations such as: 

  • Copyright laws and the legal rights under common law. 
  •  Employment contracts and funding applications.   
  • Knowledge of the legal process of Human Rights and Equal Opportunities Act, when working with others
