Emmanuel Catholic College Curriculum Handbook
Year 11 & 12

Sport and Recreation

Certificate III
The College offers this certificate to students who have an interest in the Sport and Recreation industry. It is the first part of a two-year program that will provide students with a Certificate III in Sport and Recreation.

The certificate is different than a general or ATAR course of study, in that students will not receive marks and will instead be presented with opportunities to demonstrate their competence in an array of units.

Some of these units include:

  • Senior first aid certificate
  • Snorkelling
  • Mountain biking
  • Performing basic water rescues

As well as these units, there are also two camps that cover the practical aspects of the units.  One of the camps is to Rottnest Island, where students have an opportunity to gain competency in snorkelling and mountain biking.  The second camp is in Margaret River, where students hike part of the cape-to-cape trail, head into the forest and complete some quality mountain biking trails and canoe up the Blackwood River while learn about the history of the area.

Pathways Beyond School
This pathway sets the students up to be involved in a variety of roles within the sport and recreation industry.
