Computer Aided Design

CAD (computer-aided design) software and CAM (computer aided manufacturing) technologies are used by architects, engineers, drafters, artists, and others to create precision drawings or technical illustrations.

CAD software can be used to create two-dimensional (2D) drawings or three-dimensional (3D) models. Students become confident at understanding and producing accurate three-dimensional drawings with realistic rendering.

Design tasks and projects will be different for each course, allowing for students to complete both if they wish.

Students will use CAD software to design and construct projects that can be cut and engraved using CAM technology such as the Epilog CO2 lasers, Roland vinyl cutter and 3D printer. Students will have the opportunity to work with a variety of materials.
