Metals

This course allows students to work with metals to build solutions to teacher-directed and design-based activities. Students are encouraged to use the design process to create unique projects either for themselves, family or community.  

Design tasks will be different in each course, with many opportunities to individualise project tasks. Skills such as electric and oxy-acetylene welding, plasma cutting and sheetmetal work will be introduced into a range of projects. 

Areas of study: 

  • the design process 
  • drawing skills and techniques 
  • safe working practices 
  • familiarity with a selected range of tools and equipment 
  • a basic knowledge of technologies and materials
